Overall: Go somewhere else. Walk just a little further to any of the many hotels in the area and they are sure to be better.
Details:
This place is dirty. Bathrooms, showers, lounge area, kitchen, rooms themselves are dirty. And I understand you take a sacrifice of value and comfort to stay at a hostel but this wasn’t even worth the $30. (YHA was the same price and their entire place is clean, WiFi is free, and their lock boxes in the rooms have outlets in them so you can charge your phone securely.)
The elevators didn’t work and the stairwell doors were locked so it was a lot of waiting and cramming into a dirty elevator to get anywhere.
There was a large spill on the carpet from who knows when before us that made the room stinks pungent sour smell. When told about it at check-in, a woman came in at 11p (when two of the girls were already sleeping obviously) to spray some sort of cleaner on it. That just mixed with the smell and further saturated the carpet with liquid which I’m sure will just feed the mold already fermenting.
My bed was missing a duvet and pillow. I had to talk to 3 people 3 different times with hours between to get them. They kept “sending housekeeping” (which were also waiting with trolleys for the half functioning elevators) to which they eventually just grabbed from a nearby closet with a key I had to further wait for them to get. I checked in at 3p, I got my nasty, stained, thin, flimsy pillow and smelly duvet at 10p.

A terrible dirty and filthy place!!! Staff doesnt pay attention on you, the elevator is slow and they forbid you use the stairs to get inside the place. It is probably the worth place i have ever been! The toilet paper wasnt refilled for 48 hours, there is so much junk and dirt in the bathrooms too! My advise? Avoid it, for a little extra you can get a way better service for your money!

Good hostel, clean beds, good kitchen and alright showers! Sadly you can't bring your own alcohol but the bar is really nice!

Perfect location
Poor internet(even if they charge 6 dollars for 24h).
Room just Ok...a bit small
We booked a double room with private bathroom, it was on the second floor, cannot understand this when the rest of the shared rooms where from 4th above.
The noise in the street did not allow us to sleep till the party was over.
Unless you are looking for party or you wanna go out till late do not book this hotel.
BTW neither the TV nor the A/C of the room was working.

The Base is a good Hostel. It offers u all necessities like kitchen, laundry, lounges and of course beds as well showers. But exactly the restrooms and showers aren't as nice as in other hostels for example the Haka Lodges. Some Equipment is missing and hadn't been replaced for weeks. (towel dispensers at some floors) The kitchen could definitely be in a better condition as it is right now. Also the hygienic standard isn't the same as in comparable hostels.
