UPDATE...following this public Google review some of the listed issues that had previously been repeatedly reported have been swiftly resolved and are now in brackets (); others are still in progress and the overall rating will be reviewed once all issues are addressed.

Positive feedback and thanks owed to PT's Owen and Dave on the gym-floor for their fitness advice, Gavin and Hayley for chasing the service and maintenance companies, and also to Serena on reception for her friendly demeanour and 'voluble' presence over the tannoy system ;-)

This 1 star rating is limited to poolside and changing room hygiene and etiquette, which have been on the decline for a long time. Members wearing either underwear alone or beneath shorts, or their gym shorts rather than swimwear poolside, and not showering before using the facilities are never spoken to. I understand that this may be difficult for the junior lifeguards; perhaps if more senior staff could support them, provide better training, and visit poolside occasionally to do checks matters may improve? Standards generally seem much worse in the evenings. There were also some prominent signs on stands mentioning a few basic rules (no underwear/no towel drying in sauna/please shower) by the poolside steps, and outside the saunas and spa pools; standards have dropped even further since their removal. The sauna, (apart from literally falling to pieces-benches now repaired) is also frequently used as a towel dryer which creates an unpleasantly humid and smelly environment in there. The sauna thermometer and hydrometer were removed for repairs 3 months ago, and still haven't been replaced (now been finally ordered). Both the flimsy lampshades are broken (now on order). There are not enough towel hooks poolside, and requests for more fall on deaf ears. The steam room (is often too cool-fixed), and simply smelly with no hosepipe to enable surfaces to be cleaned. In the changing rooms, the communal hair dryers are often used to dry genitalia and feet which is both unhygienic and unpleasant to see. Again, these behaviours are not addressed or made impossible by shortening their power cables (now understand will be requested). The office style ceiling tiles throughout the shower cubicles are almost always mouldy due to inadequate ventilation and extraction there; (some are also missing entirely with electrical cables visible above the shower head-now fixed). (There is a shower cubicle with no shower, and another cubicle with no shampoo dispenser-now been fixed). Many lockers are dirty and permanently unavailable due to members leaving their padlocks on them when they have gone home (now will be addressed). (The main studio equipment storeroom has had no lighting since February-now eventually diagnosed as new lightbulb and lighting unit required). (Several pieces of gym equipment have worn-out upholstery-now fixed). (The technogym vario cross-trainers are all out-of order-now being fixed). It's sad that members have to make these comments on a public forum since the comment cards in the gym are no longer replied to out of courtesy.

Rude staff and dirty changing rooms, as mentioned before swimming pool is a mess in a sense of lanes availablity. Would not recommend!

I have been member in this gym for 2 months. Let me give some ideas about this gym.
One day in the first month, there were 5-6 black young guys shouted and played in the shower room. They even throw an underwear on my body, that's so disgusting. I complained at reception, the staff told me they didn't pay for the membership. Nuffield give them free trial to making more customers. So that means this situation may keep happen.
Second month, someone took my tower when I was in the spa. It is only been 10mins time. The staff can't help anything except waiting the person return the tower if the person want to. The CCTV of this Gym only for the people who get drowned so it can not playback. It's means you may lose your personal belongings and the GYM cannot help at all.

The pool is decent, but again following other commenters where the life guards aren't managing the pool properly. They should be moving people from fast lanes to a speed appropriate lane to avoid collisions and to uphold the pool rules. Also the amount of children's lessons seems to becoming more and more common to the point after work there are only 2 out of the four lanes available for lane swimming. I'll probably site this as a reason to leave if it continues as the pool is the only reason for my membership.

I don't use the gym so I can't rate it based on that. My rating is based on the swimming pool. I usually go late at night to avoid a lot people. However, sometimes I do get some people swimming at the same time as me. My only complaint is that the lifeguards never do anything to move people that are not swimming, or sometimes people that should be swimming in the slow lane, jump in the fast or medium lanes and just get in the way of everyone else and can get annoying. It should be the lifeguard's job to make sure that people respect the lanes.
Besides that, I am very happy.
